Certified. Explained. No greenwash.
Words like "eco-friendly" and "planet safe" mean nothing on their own. Here is exactly what our bags are made of, what the certification covers, and what to do with the bag after the walk.

What "certified compostable" means
A certified compostable bag has been tested by an independent body against a recognised standard for industrial or home composting. The standard covers how the material breaks down, in what conditions, over what time, and what it leaves behind.
The material
Pawdforward bags are made from certified compostable materials. Both Little Loads and Big Stinks use the same material at the same standard thickness. Exact composition is published with the approved supplier specification.
Storage and shelf life
Compostable films are designed to break down, so treat the box a little like food: store it cool, dry and out of direct sunlight, and use rolls within the shelf-life window printed on the pack.
- Keep unopened rolls in the box, not in a hot car or a sunny windowsill.
- Load one roll in the dispenser at a time.
- Rotate stock: Never Run Out cadences are sized so bags are used well inside their shelf life.
After the walk: disposal
This is the part most brands skip. A compostable bag only helps if it ends up in the right stream, and pet waste itself is regulated differently by municipality. Some green-bin programs accept pet waste in certified bags; many do not.
Cleaner communities
Good bags get used. A bag that fits the dog, tears cleanly and ties easily is a bag that ends up in the bin rather than left on the trail. That is the everyday impact we design for.

Common questions
Is compostable the same as biodegradable?
No. "Biodegradable" has no fixed timeframe or conditions. Certified compostable means tested against a defined standard, in defined conditions, with limits on what remains.
Can I put the bag in my home compost?
Pet waste should not go in home compost used for food gardens. Whether the bag itself is home-compostable depends on the certification level, which we publish once approved.
Do compostable bags leak or tear more?
Our bags use a standard, dependable thickness across both sizes. Approved performance claims and test results are published with the final specification, not before.
